Email is a staple of the Internet marketing scene. That’s partially because it’s been around for awhile. It’s primarily do to one , however. It works.

When you think about it, marketing is somewhat akin to list marketing. People opt-in (they become a follower). They can opt-out if they don’t like your messages (it’s easy to un-follow). When someone is on your list, you can send him or her a message at will (via , of course).

Now, we know from experience that list marketing can be a massive . It stands to reason that Twitter has some serious potential, too. It’s a variation on that same proven theme, after all.

For years, everyone has been screaming “the money is in the list”. Maybe it’s time to start saying that “the money could be in Twitter”.

True, there are some differences between having a list and having a large cadre of followers. What we’ve seen so far from those who are marketing via Twitter the “right” way, however, provides evidence that you can start making some money and driving some traffic with Twitter.
