We have a tendency to think of things in terms of numerical values first. We have a craving for “more” and the easiest way to measure quantity is by counting.
Maybe that’s why so many people quickly develop an obsession with boosting their twitter follower count to the highest possible number. If 100 followers is good, 1,000 will be better and 10,000 would be better than that.
That’s a fairly sound-looking argument at fist glance. When you think about what makes Twitter work, you’ll realize that you’d rather have 100 good followers than 1,000 who don’t really pay much attention to you and/or who aren’t really in your field.
If you want to use Twitter marketing, it pays to keep the basics online marketing in mind. One of the basic precepts is the idea that targeted traffic always gets better results than untargeted.
It’s the same with followers. If they’re really not a good fit for what you’re oing, they’re not likely to mean must you in you terms of building your business or making professional connections.
