tweets are like diamonds. No, they’re not the product of millions of years of high-pressure activity under the earth. They’re not even carbon based. And before you get a big head, no one is saying that your Tweets are quite THAT valuable.
Remember that popular jeweler’s ad that proclaims, “diamonds are forever“? That’s the point of similarity. Your Tweets are long-lasting, too.
When you Tweet something, anyone in your stream can see it and they can create a copy of it. Likewise, they can Re-Tweet it and increase its flow across the network. They can also tell people about it off of the site in emails, blog posts or offline conversation.
That Tweet will also linger on your profile page, making it accessible to another potential crowd.
Finally, the search engines DO index Tweets. If you’re like me, you’ve seen twitter activity come up in searches from time to time.
Tweets are in the moment, but they last indefinitely. Keep that in mind before you launch into an attack or say anything you might later regret.
