One of the best ways to increase your effectiveness on twitter is to leave a part of your sense of humor behind with every tweet.
No, Twitter isn’t the Improv. No, you’re not under any contractual obligation to be funny, either. If you can bring a few laughs to the site, however, people are going to appreciate your effort.
That doesn’t mean that you should spend a great deal of time Tweeting set ups and punch lines to your followers. You aren’t doing a standup act, after all.
What it does mean is that you should try to make a few wisecracks and to have a good time. When you’re enjoying yourself, others will enjoy you that much more.
Some people take their social networking pretty seriously. Their networks are a lot like mastermind groups or professional peer groups. There isn’t a great deal of joking going on.
That could be a mistake. You don’t want your wisecracks to occupy a lot of your time, but you do want to let people know, at least occasionally, that you’re not some kind of wet blanket.
